Funeral Held In Michigan For Slain DPD Officer Michael Krol

MICHIGAN (CBSDFW.COM) - Police officers from Texas and across Michigan lined up to say their final farewell to Dallas Police Officer Michael Krol in the state where he grew up.
"All we can say is that we love you, we're here with you, whatever we can do to ease your pain at this time and to comfort the family, that's what we offer," said Sheriff Benny Napoleon, Wayne County, MI Sheriff's Department, who met with Krol's mother at the service.
Mourners stood at attention, filling the parking lot of a small Catholic church outside Detroit, watching the U.S. flag-draped casket carrying the slain public servant. Their somber faces reflected the heavy mood that overtook most of the country following the violence on the streets of downtown Dallas. Another large flag hung from a fire truck outside the church.
"I just feel like it's my obligation. I'm retired, I have time to put my name in the book and pay my respects," said retired Pontiac, MI Police Officer Ray Felice.
Krol, 40, was one of five Dallas officers killed in the line of duty earlier this month. He served with the Dallas Police Department since 2007. Krol worked in the jails for the sheriff's department in the Detroit area before moving to Texas.
Nearly two weeks after Krol was killed in the Dallas ambush, he made the trip home to Michigan… for the last time.
