From Denton To Fort Worth, Icy Roads Blanket North Texas

DENTON COUNTY
Not many cars are passing through the one of the main thoroughfares in Denton, covered with a sheet of sleet.
Both the University of North Texas and Texas Women's University are both closed and look like ghost towns.
CBS 11 reporter Jack Fink only spotted one guy at TWU.
There were more people at the grocery, like Travis Forshee, who were taking advantage of a day off work.
"Got a two year old daughter so picked up milk, going to go ahead and make some breakfast this morning, work is closed."
Another shopper ran out of a couple of essentials on a cold day like this!
"I got to get coffee and creamer or else the wife will kill me." So you ran out - of all things? "We didn't plan well for this, no," said Mick Miller of Denton.
Denton police reported 10 accidents from 6 pm last night through 8 am.
PLANO
Highway 75 was the scene of some early morning problems, where the overpasses are covered with sleet.
TXDOT trucks were laying down sand on overpasses trying to keep up with the sleet. CBS 11's Gabriel Roxas also spotted plows scraping away the buildup.
The City of Plano also has about eight trucks working to sand bridges, and they will continue to do that throughout the morning and into the afternoon.
Plano identified the areas of 75 near Plano Parkway, 15th Street, and Parker as problem areas that saw at least eight collisions earlier today.
As for now, those trucks are doing a good job of clearing paths, but since it wont be melting anytime soon, all they can do is push it aside.
DALLAS
By 11 am, sand had started to break up some of the ice in Dallas on Highway 75 and conditions appeared to be improving, according to CBS 11's Jennifer Lindgren.
Chopper 11 captured a man trying successfully to push a car on the High Five interchange, where the overpasses are notorious for icing over.
Some drivers CBS 11 caught up with heading south from Collin County say the drive wasn't worth the risk.
"I kind of took the safest road, no traffic, no slopes anything like that because I know once your car gets kind of out of control you can not control," said Krunal Patel.
TxDOT tweeted out that plow operation are underway throughout Dallas this morning and asking drivers to give those trucks spaces to work.
FORT WORTH
Most drivers were taking their time navigating over the slush mix, which could get more problematic if it freezes into ice.
In the early morning hours, CBS 11's Elizabeth Dinh watched more than one driver reverse after approaching the I-35W on ramp from I-30. Some appeared to lose traction and put their vehicles in reverse to take another route. Thankfully, there were no wrecks as a result.
There was a near-accident when a few cars tried to go around another that appeared to drive too slowly on one of the mixmaster overpasses.
Most people who've had to take the interstate have been good about taking their time and driving slowly.
