Frisco Public Library Buys 3-D Printer
FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - Frisco's Public Library now has a 3D printer.
"I see this a lot as paralleling the personal computer movement when it first started people first got their hands on it it's like well what can I do with it," said Gary Werchan, spokesperson for the library.
The Makerbot 3D printer cost $2000. Everything it produces is made with a plastic filament that looks like a fishing line. It's along the lines of bigger printers that can use other materials to design such as cars and even prosthetic limbs.
"I think it would be cool to have in school for projects," said Jake Hoang, Frisco student.
Staff at the library welcomes visitors to use the new printer. But they must first submit a request for approval with the technical staff and pay a small fee.
