Frisco PD Releases Vague Description Of Kidnapping Suspect
FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) – Frisco police had more questions Monday for a teenager who claims she was abducted by a stranger and driven to Oklahoma.
Authorities also issued a news release this afternoon characterizing the abduction as an "isolated" incident. Bethany Stroud, 18, told police that on Friday evening she was kidnapped at gunpoint by a stranger in the parking lot of the Stars Center.
Stroud was working at a ticket booth during a basketball game.
The 18-year-old high school student says a man stuck a gun in her face, forced into a vehicle and was driven to Oklahoma.
She told authorities there she was held captive for most of Saturday until she was able to escape in Muskogee, Okla. about 200 miles northeast of Frisco.
Authorities say she borrowed a phone at a fast food restaurant and called 911.
Frisco Police say they are looking for a suspect and have a vague description.
Meanwhile, officials with the Stars Center, which hosts sporting events, say they will review their security procedures as a result of this.
"We have a lot of security inside this building. We have surveillance systems and so forth, we spent a lot of time on it, unfortunately we weren't able to find her locally but our main concern is Bethany is OK," says Ed Reusch, Vice President of the Dallas Stars Dr. Pepper Starscenter.
Reusch says Stroud's car was parked out of range from the security cameras around the outside of the facility.
