Frisco Parents Upset Bus Service Cut Off For Some Students
FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - Parents in Frisco are upset that the school district is no longer offering bus service to a recently rezoned neighborhood. Many parents said the policy makes their children walk farther than they should.
The new elementary school opens across the street from the Richwoods neighborhood in the fall.
"I feel very a scared," said Frisco parent Shalini Rai. She has two children in two different schools so driving them both to class each day isn't an option for Rai.
Frisco ISD only offers bus rides to students who live more than two miles from a school.
"By the time I go back and come home it will be time for my middle schoolers to come home," said Rai.

"There is no straight line from my house to the school," said another Frisco parent, Richa Sethi.
The school district said families should embrace the new school because it will be closer. But their are other road side hazards of concern to parents.
"Kids not having sidewalks and a lot of construction workers going in and out of the community," said Giri Velagapodi.
Several families said they want the school district to take their concerns more seriously.
School officials told CBS 11 News that they're meeting with the city to "to plan for safe passage between the Richwoods subdivision and McSpedden Elementary. That includes considerations regarding the placement of crossing guards, school zones signs."
