Frisco Man Gets 5 Years Jail For Killing Dogs

FORT WORTH (AP) - A North Texas man who was fired as a stable caretaker has been sentenced to five years in prison for the retaliation killing of two dogs owned by his ex-boss.

Prosecutors in Fort Worth on Tuesday announced the penalty for 25-year-old William Skyler Leak of Frisco.

Leak pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty in a plea deal over last fall's killing of two border collies. Both animals had their throats slashed.

Investigators say Leak was fired in July 2012 for poor performance. He then refused to leave a mobile home on the Fort Worth property and was evicted last Sept. 25.

A note left by Leak at the stable, where the dogs were slain the following day, also threatened the life of the property owner.
