Frisco ISD Board To Vote On Pursuing Property Tax Increase

FRISCO (CBSDFW) - Property taxes could be going up in Frisco as the Frisco ISD school board prepares to vote Tuesday night on whether to pursue the increase.
The Frisco ISD could stand to lose millions of dollars in funding when a temporary provision expires, so the school board wants to raise property taxes by 13 cents for every $100 of property value.
That's an increase of about $450 a year for the average homeowner.
The district says the additional 13 cents would generate $30 million to help them reduce class sizes and to hire more teachers to serve new students.
The district also says an increase would provide additional resources to attract and keep high quality staff.
A special meeting and public hearing get underway at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Frisco ISD Administration Building.
If the school board approves the higher rate, it would be subject a vote by the public later this year.
