Frisco Non-Profit Fights Hunger, Homelessness In Collin County
FRISCO (KRLD) -- Collin County has seen some of the most spectacular economic growth in North Texas, but the affluence in Frisco is not universal as many believe.
Frisco Family Services -- a non-profit organization which helps those facing hunger, homelessness and other urgent needs -- distributed more than 395,000 pounds of healthy food last year.
Nicole Bursey with FFS says that many of the families now needing help once contributed to the organization.
"What we really try to do is encourage people and let them know, yes, you were and have been on the giving side," said Bursey, "but during this point or season in your life, this is an opportunity for us to be able to help you. You've paid it forward."

A new food pantry, which seeks donations from the community, was established to provide food and needed items to more than 375 families each month.
"The food pantry is one that as a community member, you can be proud of," said Bursey. "As someone using it, there's dignity. It's setup exactly like a grocery store."
In addition to fighting hunger, the organization also provides links to rent/mortgage assistance programs, gasoline vouchers, and adult education classes -- among others.
