Frisco Event Highlights Young Makers

FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - Using your analytical side and creative side to make some cool inventions, like catapults, hovercrafts and jewelry. That is the goal at this weekend's first-ever Frisco Mini Maker Faire. The event takes place this weekend, April 26-27, at the Sci-Tech Discovery Center. Click here for more details.

CBS 11 News reporter Elizabeth Dinh got to preview some of the cool things that visitors will be able to see. Check out her live reports below.

More than 30 different guests will be at the event on both Saturday and Sunday to show visitors how to get creative with various electronics and wood structures, making all kinds of cool things in the process.

"The Maker Faire is meant to celebrate all those who are already making, but inspire those who aren't," said Alysha Herrera, sales manager at the Sci-Tech Discovery Center. "So, from our preschool, who are going to get their hands dirty, through guests of all ages, who might find a new hobby or feel empowered with things they're already interested in, we hope they can take that away."
