GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Crystal Nuncio didn't just clock into work every day. As a dispatcher, she saved lives.
"She was a wonderful person, a hard-working mother. Always up for adventure, always up to travel. I mean, her children were number one to her," said Alexis Casas, a close friend.
Dozens packed onto a corner Tuesday night in the neighborhood Nuncio considered home.
Family and friends held candles, sang and tied ribbons to fences and signs.
They are trying to make sense of how their friend and neighbor was killed.
Police said Nuncio was on her way to work when a suspected drunk driver hit her head on. Her kids were in the car and are expected to survive.
"That's a hole that never heals. These children have lost their mother. That's a huge loss," said Nena Walby, a neighbor.
Family friends say Peyton is out of the hospital with a broken leg. Ally is suffering from multiple broken bones, several fractures and remains in a medically-induced coma.
"She was my very best friend and always made me happy. It makes me sad and I hope that she gets better," said Cydni Glaze, Ally's friend.
The man suspected of drunk driving, Luis Angel Rodriquez, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
