2 People Dead In Fort Worth Freeway Shooting
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Two people were killed and two others were injured after someone opened fire on a car driving down the service road of the South Freeway in Fort Worth at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night.
At least 11 shots were fired at the car as the vehicle exited southbound Interstate-35W at the Sycamore School Road exit, according to officials with the Fort Worth Police Department. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle, hit a retaining wall at a high rate of speed and careened onto the opposite side of the service road.
The male driver and a female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as 22-year-old Diane Guerra of River Oaks and 22-year-old Fabian Guerrero of Fort Worth. Police are not certain whether they died from gunshot wounds or the impact of the crash.
Two other victims had gunshot wounds to the legs and were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A fifth passenger was not hurt and has been talking to the police.
No information about a suspect, vehicle description or motive has been released yet.
Authorities said that the five victims had been at a restaurant along Hulen Street just before the shooting, but investigators do not know whether that is related to the shooting incident.
The service road was closed in the area for several hours after the shooting.
