Free Fall Activities For Families In DFW

Fall in Dallas-Fort Worth means cooler weather, tailgate spreads and busy families. After a long, hot summer, families in Dallas-Fort Worth can't wait to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. It's time to bring out the picnic blankets, eat some great food, play outside and enjoy some great fall festivities. Attending these events don't have to break the bank. Hall's Pumpkin Farm is located in Grapevine, TX, just a few minutes from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. This family farm has been around since 1929 and is still run by the family. The farm has downsized, but this pumpkin patch welcomes guests from all over North Texas. It has pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and varieties in cute displays all around the farm. There are also hay bales, corn stalks and jungle gyms for the kids. Bring your cameras since there are great photo opportunities with cartoon-like backdrops and farm wagons. The best part of it all is that admission and parking to this pumpkin farm is absolutely free. So kids get to play on the playground and explore the pumpkins for free. There is an admission fee of $5 to walk through the corn maze and a $2 fee to for the hayride, but enjoying the pumpkin patch is free. The farm is open through October 31st, so make your visit soon.

Downtown Dallas will light up for the holidays on November 16, 2013. This annual festival features family entertainment, photos with Santa and more. There will be a tree-lighting ceremony that begins at 7 p.m. at Main Street Garden. The best part is that this event is free with a fantastic light show and a tree that's at least 65 feet high. Main Street Garden park is about 1.75 acres and is owned by the City of Dallas. It is bordered by Main Street, St. Paul Street, Commerce Street and Harwood Street.

This free event is a monthly music festival on the last Thursday of every month with the last event being October 31 from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Kids, pets and families are welcome and it's all free. This is the fourth open-to-the-public free event at the park. This free music event attracts 3,000 people with an expected draw of around 4,000-5,000 people in the fall months. Bring the family and some picnic blankets and enjoy free music at Klyde Warren Park.

In its seventh year, this free cultural family celebration includes three different stages celebrating the Americas. Along with music and dance, there are kids' workshops and interactive exhibits for the entire family to enjoy. About 25,000 people are expected to attend where there will be a tortilleria, cooking demonstrations, pinata making and more. At the event, explore all of the different countries of the Americas and get a commemorative passport stamped. The musical performances will transport you to another world where you can see traditional folklorico dances, mariachi bands, capoeira demonstrations, the tango, choir and other performances.

On November 10, 2013 from noon until 4 p.m., kids will be able to ride their bikes and not have to worry about cars. The streets will be blocked off to allow for bikes of all kinds, skateboarders, the gourmet food trucks, yoga classes, art, face painting, live music and more. It's great for families and the weather is perfect to spend an enjoyable afternoon in Fort Worth. This will be one of the last events before the weather gets cooler.
