4-Alarm Fire Destroys Greenville Avenue Club
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A four-alarm fire destroyed a Greenville Avenue club Sunday morning, although all 150 patrons were evacuated safely.
Dallas Fire Rescue officials responded to the fire at Murphy's 2 at 7402 Greenville Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Fire fighters could see the fire coming from the roof and the bar of the restaurant, officials said.
"There was so much fire that they had to immediately assume a defensive posture as the response was escalated to four alarms within half an hour," read a release.
The assistant manager noticed smoke and told his manager, who then called 911. Firefighters were not able to douse the flames before the building was destroyed.
The only reported injury was a firefighter, who had a piece of plywood fall on him while battling the blaze. He was expected to be released from Baylor Hospital this morning.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire. One other building was damaged because of the flames, officials said. A power line collapsed on the roof of nearby Heroes Club, but fire fighters were able to put out that fire with "minimal damage."
