Fort Worth Standoff Ends With 2 Arrests

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A man was taken into custody Tuesday morning after a short standoff with Fort Worth police. The incident happened in the 800 block of East Butler Street, close to the intersection of Interstate-35W and Seminary Drive.

According to Sgt. Steve Enright, police were called about a domestic disturbance situation at a home. The victim was a grandmother, who told authorities that she was being assaulted by her grandson. Officers tried to speak to the suspect, but he and his girlfriend refused to exit the residence.

The girlfriend allegedly told officers that she would shoot them if they tried to enter the home.

Police called in a SWAT team and tear gas was used to lure the suspect outside. When that did not work, SWAT officers went inside after the man. Both he and his girlfriend were then placed under arrest.

The grandson was charged with domestic violence against an elderly person. His girlfriend was charged with hindering apprehension and making a terroristic threat. The names of the suspects have not been released.
