Fort Worth Shooting Suspect Killed By Police
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Authorities shot and killed a man who opened fire on police officers on Sunday morning, in the 4300 block of Barcelona Drive.
Fort Worth Police Department officers were dispatched to the home at 11:00 a.m. after emergency calls reported a man shooting his gun into the air, department spokesman Paul Henderson said.
When police arrived, the man screamed that he was military combat-trained and turned his weapon toward the officers and began shooting. Henderson said that the man connected with at least one squad car, but did not hit any officers.
The man refused to drop his weapon, so police returned fire. The man died at the scene, Henderson said.
The man was later identified as 29-year-old Christopher Johnson, described by neighbors as a troubled war veteran who had served in Iraq. No officers were injured during the incident.
