Fort Worth Police Officer Indicted In Deadly Crash
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A Fort Worth police officer has been indicted in connection with a deadly wreck from 2012.
Officer Christopher Bolling was on-duty and speeding at the time of the crash, just before 11:00 p.m. on August 20, 2012, as he traveled to backup another officer at a traffic stop.
Bolling was driving without his emergency lights or sirens when he hit 77-year-old Billie Addington's vehicle. Addington died three months after the crash from "complications of multiple traumatic injuries" caused by a motor vehicle collision, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office.
Bolling is facing manslaughter charges, which carry a punishment of 2 to 20 years in prison.
Bolling turned himself in at the Tarrant County Jail on Friday and was released on a $7,500 bond.
Fort Worth Police placed Bolling on limited duty status after the crash, according to a statement released by the department. He has now been placed on restricted duty, until his administrative case is reviewed and the chief makes a final decision on his employment status. Bolling will not carry his badge or weapon during this time.
Bolling joined the Fort Worth Police Department in 2009, and was assigned to the West Patrol Division.
