FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A Fort Worth police officer has been arrested for suspicion of DWI.

Officials with the Fort Worth Police Department confirmed that they were contacted by Haltom City police about the arrest of one of their officers. Carl Duque, who was off-duty at the time, was stopped for a traffic violation just after midnight on December 1.

During the police stop along NE Loop 820 it was determined that Duque might be impaired and he was arrested for suspicion of DWI. He was released from jail after posting $1,000 bond.

Duque is assigned to the FWPD bike patrol and has been with the department since 1997.

After his arrest, Duque was placed on restricted duty status. While his gun and badge have been confiscated Duque will work in a paid, non-peace officer capacity pending the outcome of an investigation.

It was in late 2012 that police Chief Jeff Halstead put out a written "challenge" to his officers to stay out of trouble in 2013. Officials were trying to deal with an image problem. Between 2008 and 2012, more than a dozen Fort Worth officers were arrested on DWI charges.

Until Duque's arrest, it had been 522 days since a FWPD officer was arrested on a DWI charge.
