FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A Fort Worth police officer was arrested last week on suspicion that he had sex with a 16-year-old boy he met on Craigslist.

David Brintnell, 43, faces a charge of sexual assault of a child under the age of 17. He was booked at the Tarrant County Jail on Thursday and has posted $50,000 bail.

According to Brintnell's arrest warrant, a mother reported that her son had pretended to be 18 and posted on Craigslist to meet multiple men for sex. One of those partners claimed to be a police officer. The number given was that of Brintnell's.

In an interview, the victim said he snuck out of his house and met Brintnell at an intersection two blocks away, the affidavit says. Brintnell drove the victim to his apartment, where they performed sex acts. When the victim's mother realized he wasn't home the next morning, she called him and then Brintnell dropped him off near his home.

Brintnell told Arlington police that he had responded to ads on Craigslist, but refused to answer further questions, according to the affidavit.

Arlington police notified Fort Worth police after determining that Brintnell was an officer. He was placed on restricted duty.
There has been no comment from Fort Worth police other than the confirmation that he is a FWPD officer.
