Fort Worth Police Investigate Body Found In Trunk

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth police are investigating the death of a man found in the back of his pickup truck parked in an industrial area of southeast Fort Worth. Nearby workers at a truck repair facility first noticed something wrong when emergency crews arrived on the scene.

"We had a truck sitting here that I did repairs on, Said Marc Mitchell of K9 Truck Services. " An ambulance was blocking the way and I was trying to get the attention of one of them so they could move the ambulance. And that's when I noticed the firefighter got in the back to check the pulse and that's when I saw the arm."

Workers saw the pickup truck parked on the side of the road as early as 3:30 am. They thought someone had parked it after drinking too much or for someone else to come pick up. Police say a family member looking for the man after he didn't return home discovered the body around nine am.

"She was able to locate, after driving around for several hours, she was able to locate his pickup truck behind us and she discovered a deceased male inside the pickup truck," said Sgt. Pedro Criado with the Fort Worth Police Department.

"All of a sudden I just heard a blood curdling scream. I'm sitting there going 'What is that?' and she kept screaming for about 15, 20 minutes, and then about 10 minutes after that I saw the cops, the ambulance and fire trucks show up," said Mitchell.

Police would only say the man suffered trauma to the body and did not release an identity. Workers in the area say it appeared the man's shirt had been pulled up over his face before he was shot or stabbed in the chest.

"You see it on TV but you don't expect it will happen across the street from your work," Mitchell said.
