Fort Worth Police Conduct Safety Sweep Of Hulen Mall Following False Report Of Gunshot
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth Police officers responded to Hulen Mall Thursday night, investigating a report of a person possibly with a weapon.
Around 7:30 p.m. police responded to a call at the mall indicating people were running inside and yelling, "gun."
As of 8:10 p.m., Fort Worth Police told CBS 11 "there does not appear to be an active threat."
After conducting a security sweep of the entire mall and investigating the reports of a gun, police said there had been a disturbance among a large group of young people.
Police said it started in the food court with about 50 to 60 people.
Ultimately someone knocked over a display at Dillard's which had someone thinking it was a gun shot.
Police said no one was hurt.
Two juveniles were taken into custody for theft. Two others are in custody for resisting arrest.
Brookfield Properties, which manages the mall, told CBS 11 there was no shooting and no one was hurt, but the mall was evacuated as a precaution.
Hulen Mall will reopen Friday morning.
