FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A police officer and two other people were injured early Tuesday morning after a police chase ended with a three-vehicle crash. The incident took place at about 1:15 a.m. in the 4700 block of Western Center Boulevard, along the border between Fort Worth and Haltom City.
Authorities were initially called about hot-rodders in the area. An officer responded to the call and attempted to stop a driver in a truck. But that suspect failed to pull over, and instead started to flee.
A pair of marked police cars followed the suspect eastbound along Western Center Boulevard.
The chase concluded when the truck rear-ended another vehicle. That crash caused one of the police cars to then strike the truck. "No serious injuries to anyone involved," said Capt. David McElroy with the Fort Worth Police Department.
The suspect was taken into custody for DWI and evading arrest. He was taken to a nearby hospital complaining of pain from the crash. The police officer was also transported to a local hospital for some pain. The third driver, in the first car that was struck, went to the hospital on their own. Everyone is expected to be okay.
