FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth police say a man stalked a teen on her way to school for blocks.

The 14-year-old says the suspect following her was persistent and wouldn't take no for an answer.

Investigators say Thursday morning the teen was walking to the bus stop on Trace Ridge Parkway and was approached by a Hispanic man in a white van.

She told police that the suspect asked if she wanted a ride.

She says she said no, but the suspect kept following her and asked again if she wanted a ride because it was cold outside.

"We are all keeping an eye on each other's children," says concerned parent Sallie Johnston "It's pretty scary."

The young girl made it to the bus stop and called her mom.  The suspect turned around.

"It's like this area is being targeted. We've had influx of quite a bit of these situations happen and all of the parents and schools everyone is on high alert and looking our for each other and kids," says another concerned parent Rebecca Barnhart.

Police say the suspect is in his 40's. The student says he has a scar that stretches from his right temple down to his cheek.

The van is white and has driver and passenger windows only.

If you know anything that could help investigators call Fort Worth Police.
