FORT WORTH (CBS11) – A puppy rescue caught on cell phone camera in Fort Worth is now spreading through social media.
Fort Worth motorcycle police officer James Shiderly says he had just finished eating lunch when he hopped on I-30 eastbound at University Drive.
He said soon after getting on the highway he noticed, "all of a sudden traffic came to a halt."
He noticed a dog was darting through traffic and evading a woman who was trying to catch the dog.
Officer Shiderly jumped into action and managed to not only control the traffic but catch up to the dog and ultimately rescue it.
"It made me feel really good, because if it was my dog I would expect an officer to try and help and get that dog to safety," said Shiderly.
The officer said he had no idea his efforts to save the dog were being captured by a cell phone camera from someone inside a nearby building.
We're told the dog was taken to a nearby animal clinic to be checked out, and animal control officers are now trying to reunite it with it's owner.
