TARRANT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - A North Texas man is going to prison after being found guilty for the continued sexual abuse of a child under 14 years of age.
Daniel Garcia Jr. learned his fate Friday. On the low end, jurors could have sent Garcia to prison for 25 years. Instead, they sent him to prison for the rest of his life, with no chance for parole, for abusing his own daughter.
Prosecutors say Garcia's daughter was 7-years-old when she asked her mother if she could meet her birth father, Garcia. After several meetings and developing a relationship with the girl Garcia was granted regular visitation rights. They say the abuse began shortly after.
The girl who is not yet a teenager testified against her father. She told the jury how Garcia began with fondling her and escalated the abuse over a period of four years.
Investigators told how they recovered information from Garcia's computer, including internet searches for "sex with my young daughter".
Garcia's parents have custody of two of his other children, both girls. There have been accusations that he molested those children as well.
Garcia was taken into custody immediately after the sentencing hearing.
