FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A 54-year-old parolee was sentenced to 70 years in prison for robbing two Fort Worth businesses – a phone store and a pharmacy – on separate occasions earlier this year.

The jury deliberated about an hour on Tuesday before sentencing Reginald A. Smith to the 70-year term.

On Monday, Smith pled guilty to two charges of robbery for holding up Metro PCS at 3628 E. Rosedale St. in January and for robbing CVS at 1201 N. Beach Street last March. In both cases, Smith threatened female store employees, telling them to "give me all your money or I'm going to blow your head off."

Smith pled guilty in front of the jury, and the trial immediately went to the punishment phase. In addition to the two robberies Smith committed in 2013, prosecutors Art Clayton and Erin Cofer also presented evidence of his prior criminal history, which included previous convictions for burglary, aggravated robbery and robbery.

The victims in most Smith's crimes were young, petite women. The jury also heard that Smith was on parole for convictions out of McClennan County and was unemployed and living with his retired parents at the time of the robberies in Fort Worth.
