FWISD Names Superintendent Finalist

FORT WORTH, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Fort Worth ISD has a lone finalist for the superintendent position.
The school board announced Saturday morning that it had nominated Dr. Joel D. Boyd.
Currently Dr. Boyd is the superintendent of Santa Fe, New Mexico Public Schools.

The vote was unanimous among those in attendance. Two board members were unable to be there. They both support the decision, according to Fort Worth ISD officials.
"Dr. Boyd is a very competent educator who has experienced successes in closing achievement gaps and improving student academic performance," said Fort Worth ISD Board President Norman Robbins.
"He will be very visible in the community, and has the ability to make people feel comfortable when meeting with them. We are excited to have him join our Team of Ten."
The district has been with without a permanent leader since June.
Texas law requires that school boards must wait 21 days after announcing a lone finalist before offering a candidate a contract.
If selected as Fort Worth ISD's next superintendent, Dr. Boyd will become the 25th superintendent in the District's 133-year history.
The next board meeting will be Tuesday, Feb 10 at 5:15 p.m.
