Fort Worth Hospital Brings Halloween Spirit To The Tiniest Of Patients

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – At Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, staff brought the Halloween spirit to patients who aren't feeling so well.
Costumed staff handed out bags filled with stickers and toys, bringing smiles to the faces of sick kids."It makes me feel happy," Emma Parrish was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and dressed as a greek goddess. She will spend the next two days in the hospital.
Some parents make costumes for their babies, others buy them from Build-A-Bear, because the babies are so small they can easily fit.
In the NICU, Lola Catron clings to her mom. Her first nursery is her hospital room. Lola had open heart surgery at just 3 days old. "I was just thinking about all the strength that she had, and how she was my little super girl," says mom Laura Catron. Her future is filled with more surgeries and eventually, a heart transplant.
Parents of two tiny patients decided to "marry" their babies. Camilla 3 months and Brady 5 months, are "just married." Well, at least in the Halloween spirit. Staff pulled the two preemies down the hall, oxygen tank and proud parents in tow.
The Halloween fun is a break from their reality of tubes and beeping machines in the NICU.
