Fort Worth Gun Show Attendance Up
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The debate over gun control intensifies and it is a big buzz in North Texas.
Gun enthusiast packed Will Rogers Center for the Lone Star Gun Show on Saturday and they say this weekend's show so far has been busier than usual.
"I had a hard time getting in to see the big selling weapons," says Randy Mason from Keller.
The most popular booths had semi-automatic weapons on display like the AR-15.
Nearly anyone at the show either owns an AR-15 or wanted to learn more about them.
"I wanted to take a look I didn't want to pass judgment until I look at these things," says Mason "To me it's not the guns that's the problem it's the people behind them."
Sellers at the gun show say the semi-automatic's are going fast and it's because people fear the weapons might be banned.
James Gilcrease from Mansfield build's custom AR-15's, "These guns get a lot of bad wrap, it takes training to kill mass people with a weapon like this."
President Barack Obama this week put together a new team tasked with delivering specific steps to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people and prevent tragedies like the one in Newtown.
As the debate over gun control heats up even more, most people admit something needs to be done, but banning weapons they say isn't the answer.
"I'm all for gun control a hundred percent if someone would come up with gun control that made sense and actually would make a difference but there is no such thing," says Eddie Rood from Dallas.
According to a Shooting Sports Foundation survey more than 3 million American's now own an AR-15.
