Fort Worth Firefighter Rescues Man After Water Main Breaks
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A Fort Worth firefighter rescued a man trapped on top of his truck after a water main broke and flooded the street Saturday morning.
Fort Worth resident Fernando Huerta, 33, was on his way to work and attempted to drive through standing water in the 300 block of Vickery Blvd. near Interstate 35E, officials said. His engine stalled and the water rapidly rose, stranding him on top of his truck.
Officials said Huerta was too scared to swim out on his own, and firefighter Dan Shutter responded to the scene and rescued Huerta.
The 30-inch water main break left two area businesses without water, and took about six hours to repair. Huerta was not injured, officials said, only "cold and wet."
