Fort Worth Fire Investigating Possible House Explosion, 1 Person Critically Injured
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The Fort Worth Fire Department is on the scene of a possible house explosion and fire.
The damaged home is in the 400 block of West Spurgeon Street -- less than a mile away from a fire station, where crews heard and felt the blast. When firefighters arrived, less than 2 minutes later, they were able to quickly knock down the fire inside the house.
At least one person was been injured. That individual was in critical condition when they were taken to the Parkland Burn Center in Dallas by CareFlite helicopter.
The injured man was inside the house at the time of the explosion but was able to make it out and across the street to a neighbor's house before collapsing. Officials say the victim had 'severe burns' to the front of his body, face and airway.
Investigators with FWFD Arson and Bomb were called to the scene and determined the explosion was an isolated incident and that no other homes in the area were in danger. So far, investigators have not said exactly what caused the explosion.
