FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Crews in Fort Worth are working to repair a 42-inch water main that broke on Sunday night. It happened near the intersection of Interstate-30 and Beach Street. Fort Worth Water Department spokeswoman Mary Gugliuzza said that the break is actually underneath the freeway.

Workers are now bringing in contractors to the scene to assist with the repairs. This is not the largest water line in Fort Worth, but it is a significant one, Gugliuzza said. Crews are still trying to determine exactly where the break is located underneath the highway.

There was simply no way for repairs to be made during the overnight hours, the water department said. In fact, work had still not started as of late Monday morning, nor was there an estimated time for when that work would begin.

"Our crews have exposed what they can of the pipe and do not see the break," Gugliuzza said, "so that's telling us the break is going to be somewhere underneath the freeway." Officials do not think that the street will need to be cut in order to reach the water main, so repairs are not expected to impact drivers.

However, the repair work could take several days or even weeks to be completed.

The parking lot of nearby Hope Church was flooded by the water main break, and the building lost its water. But the church is fine and was not damaged in any way. Other residents in this area experienced low water pressure for a period of time heading into Sunday, but everything should be back to normal at this point. People on Monday morning said that there were no longer any issues.
