4 Forney HS Soccer Players Arrested For Hazing, Sexual Assault
FORNEY, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - Four Forney High School soccer players have been arrested on sexual assault charges stemming from hazing incidents.
Two students, both juveniles, were taken into custody on the school's campus Thursday morning. Another adult student was arrested off-campus, authorities said.
By Thursday afternoon a third juvenile was in custody.
During an investigation into allegations of hazing in the boy's soccer program, investigators determined that several instances of sexual assault had occurred. After speaking with the students alleged to have been involved, investigators believe the assaults have been occurring for a number of years.
The adult student who was arrested is 18-year-old Jacob Fisher.
Fisher's arrest affidavit describes incidents where "one boy would grab [the victim's] arms and pull his arms behind his back while the other two boys would grab his legs," while another player would sodomize him.
"I was honestly shocked because I didn't think would ever go on in our school," said freshman Jared Mayberry, who is on the football team. "I know our coaches wouldn't allow that."
Like almost everyone at the school, Mayberry says he was aware of the allegations days ago. Several other students told CBS11 a video of an alleged attack was shared among students.
"It's probably worse than you can imagine, honestly, because just that it happened to you and then having to live your life knowing that it happened," said Mayberry.
Students are applauding the victim for being brave enough to come forward, calling any kind of hazing acceptable.
"I think it's ridiculous," said junior Nick Norbeck. "Shouldn't be something that happens. If you want to do something, you can do it without having to go through an initiation or a hazing."
Investigators believe there may be other victims out there.
Forney ISD did not comment on the arrests. The district did not respond to our requests about the future of the soccer team, what the coaches knew and if their season will continue as scheduled.
