Former Texas A&M QB Joeckel Transfers To TCU
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) -- Texas A&M quarterback Matt Joeckel is following in the footsteps of Johnny Manziel by leaving the Aggie program.
No, he's not NFL-bound. With a year of eligibility remaining, the fifth-year senior has decided to transfer to TCU.
Joeckel served as Manziel's backup over the past two seasons, appearing in four games in 2013. The Arlington-native's lone career start came against Rice, a game in which Manziel was suspended for the first half. In that game, Joeckel completed 14 of 19 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown.
With the departure of Tyler Matthews last week, Joeckel will likely compete with sophomore Trevone Boykin for the starting job.
Boykin appeared in 12 games in 2013, completing 59.7 percent of his passes for 1198 yards (7 TD, 7 INT). He also rushed for 313 yards (3.0 ypc) and seven TD.
