Former OL Johnson Defends Controversial Romo Comments

Former Texans and Chargers offensive lineman Travis Johnson recently had some strong words for Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
"When Tony Romo got to Dallas, he had everything around him and is a loser," said Johnson on CSN Houston.
He continued on to say, "Tony Romo has not earned a dollar he's been given in this league."
Johnson joined 105.3 The Fan's New School on Wednesday to clarify his stance on the controversial quarterback.

"It was all in good fun. To tell you the truth, I was knee-deep in a rant," said Johnson. "Do I apologize for it? No. But at the same time I think I had some points but I might have gone overboard on a few."
In his previous interview, Johnson also called Romo a "thief", saying he should be brought up on federal charges for stealing from the Cowboys.
He stopped short of calling him a "thief" on Wednesday, but still doesn't like the 6-year, $108 million extension Romo signed in March.
"The only thing I will retract is saying he didn't earn a dollar. His first contract was earned," said Johnson. "Do I think he deserved $100 million? No."
Johnson continues to place Texans quarterback Matt Schaub ahead of Romo, calling Schaub a "top-10" quarterback.
While Schaub is only 1-1 in the playoffs in six years with the Texans, Johnson credits Schaub with making the team around him better.
"When we got here, we had nothing. He's helped build this franchise to where it is now. You can only speak positive things about Matt Schaub."
Johnson stopped short of apologizing for his comments about Romo, but realizes he went a bit too far.
"I shouldn't have called him a loser, cause he's won some games," said Johnson. "Like I said, I'm not going to apologize for anything I said. That's one thing I will not do."
