Former North Texas Banker Sentenced For Fraud
FORT WORTH (AP) - A former North Texas banker who stole $2 million from customers has been sentenced to more than five years in prison.
A federal judge in Fort Worth on Wednesday sentenced Pamela Cobb of River Oaks and ordered her to repay more than $1.1 million. The ex-Bank of America branch manager in March pleaded guilty to bank fraud in a scam since 2002.
Prosecutors on Thursday said Cobb would illegally withdraw cash from accounts and use the money for vacations, jewelry, clothing and land. Cobb targeted people she knew because they would report suspected theft directly to her. She withdrew no more than $10,000 at a time to avoid currency reporting laws.
Cobb, who also was known as Pamela Crabb and Pamela Engles, must report to prison by Oct. 29.
