DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The former Marine accused of killing a University of North Texas (UNT) student has been brought back to Denton, from Arizona, to face charges.

Corporal Eric Jamal Johnson was taken into custody earlier this month at the Marine Corps Air Station in Arizona where he was assigned. Until today, he had been held in the Yuma County Detention Center.

The 20-year-old former Marine is accused of killing UNT student Sarah Mutschlechner in the early morning hours of New Year's Day.

Mutschlechner, a college junior, was with friends when witnesses say their car came under fire at an intersection near Texas Woman's University, about two miles from UNT.

Johnson did not fight extradition back to Texas and officials say he was cooperative with Denton County Sheriff's Office Deputies during the trip.

He arrived at the Denton County Jail very early Thursday morning, where he was arraigned. His bond has been set at $1 millon.
