Former Dallas Justice Of The Peace Carlos Medrano Convicted Of Illegal Voting
ROCKWALL (CBSDFW.COM) - Former Dallas County Justice of the Peace Carlos Medrano is guilty of illegal voting.
A judge convicted Medrano Monday afternoon. He was charged with two counts of illegal voting. Prosecutors said he had two nieces vote for him. Both are also charged in the case but have not yet gone to trial.
Including Medrano's nieces, at least six other members of his family are accused in the case.
The verdict was split, with the jury finding him guilty on one count and not guilty on the other.
Medrano is a member of a politically driven family, which includes three generations of elected city council, school board and county government representatives.
Carlos Medrano was on trial with his brother Frank. Frank was found not guilty of making a false statement to a grand jury.
