Forget 'The Moon'; When Will Garrett's Cowboys Win At Home?

FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett is fond of saying his team must be prepared to succeed whether playing "in a parking lot or on the moon." But he did not offer such a colorful chestnut when confronted on Wednesday with the fact his Cowboys have lost eight straight games at AT&T Stadium, the poorest current home streak in the NFL.
"Yeah, we're just focused on having a great Wednesday," Garrett said. "We had good meetings this morning, a good walkthrough and we're focused on having a good practice today."
Dallas can have a good Sunday night, too, against a visiting Chicago team that is battered across the board and has been beaten twice in two starts.
"We just need to focus on playing and coaching good football regardless of where we play," said Garrett, maybe a bit annoyed at the line of questioning. "That's what our focus is. And our focus is on today and our football team."
There is not likely a deep rhyme or reason to the fact it's been more than a year since the Cowboys won at AT&T Stadium (in last year's season opener, 27-26, over the Giants on Sept. 13, 2015). That is, nothing more " eep'' than the injury absences over the course of recent time of Tony Romo and Dez Bryant.
But eight straight home losses? Given the fact that the Cowboys are proud of AT&T Stadium as arguably the finest building of its kind on the planet, you can understand why the natives are restless about the lack of a statistical home-field advantage.
Since the 2009 opening of the building, the Cowboys are 27-30 at home.
"We're going to focus on coaching our team as well as we can coach them and playing as well as we can play in our preparation on Wednesday for the game on Sunday night," said Garrett, and they will need to do that in a parking lot or on the moon - but rather, just this once, at home in Arlington.
