Mustang-Panther Football Stadium Lights Go Up
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Mustang-Panther Football Stadium started this season in the dark, after one of its light poles toppled over before the first game. Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District officials then voluntarily took the remaining three light poles down for safety reasons. But now, those light poles are going back up, ahead of schedule, according to the district.
Crews have already installed a couple of the new lights, and more were expected to go up on September 19.
It can't happen soon enough for the GCISD football teams, which have yet to have a home game this season. It's also hurt the district's band booster club. Because the stadium has been unable to host home games, the club has not been able to operate the concession stands. The president of the club says each missed home game costs the band about $6,000, which is used to pay for scholarships, lessons and travel expenses.
GCISD's first home game is scheduled for October 5 at Mustang-Panther Stadium.
