DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — With the risk of localized flooding from the overflowing Trinity River, the City of Dallas has closed sections of more than 20 roads in area west of Stemmons Freeway (I-35 E), north of Northwest Highway and east of Luna Road and south of Royal Lane.

This area will likely be blocked off to traffic through Monday morning's commute, according to city officials.

The City of Dallas sent reverse 911 messages Sunday afternoon to all the businesses in the impacted area Sunday warning them of the potential flooding risk.

"It's crazy on a day like this sunny that it would be this scary," said Christine Umanzor, the director of the Wag Time dog rescue shelter.

Within a couple hours of the warning, volunteers had evacuated all 80 dogs from the shelter.

Late Sunday evening, emergency officials said it appears the flood waters would not rise any higher but that it could take 16-18 hours for the waters to recede off the roads.
No businesses in the area were flooded.
