Flooded Streets & Roadways Greet Many Morning Commuters

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - You probably heard it overnight -- strong storms dumping more rain across North Texas. The deluge has created problems on the roads and in rivers that were already too full.
With so much rain, it didn't take long for roads to flood. It was around 2:30 a.m. when the torrential downpours near Interstate-35 and 28th Street caused major problems for drivers… so much so that Fort Worth police closed the roadway in both directions.
Area flooding and construction in the area left a number of drivers stranded in flooded out vehicles. CBS 11 News reporter Jason Allen was one of those people who hit the water was in it before he knew what happened. Jason said he was able to safely back up and 'turn around don't drown'.
By 5:30 a.m. the last of the flooded out cars were on the back of a two truck and the last flares were burning out. Most of the water drained away fairly quickly and after crews checked drains and area conditions the interstate was reopened.
