Flipped 18-Wheeler Blocks I-30 For Early Morning Drivers
DALLAS (KRLD) - For the second morning this week, a crash involving an 18-wheeler has closed down a major freeway during the morning rush hour.
Eastbound I-30 in East Dallas near Lawnview was blocked during the early morning hours Wednesday because of complications from a crash.
Just before 4 a.m. an 18-wheeler traveling eastbound out of downtown Dallas jackknifed and rolled, coming to rest across all of the eastbound lanes.
Immediately, diesel began spilling from the semi's saddle tanks, and much of the fuel ran off into White Rock Creek below.
Dallas Haz-Mat crews were called in to help contain the spill while heavy equipment was brought in to upright the 18-wheeler.
The driver of an 18-wheeler was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Eastbound traffic was heavily backed up as drivers were re-directed to surface streets where a detour was in place to route traffic around the blockage. Westbound traffic was also slowed by a crash that may have been due to a driver being distracted by the initial crash.
On Monday, part of the Sam Rayburn Tollway in McKinney was closed for hours due to a fatal crash.
