First Day Of Early Voting Way Ahead Of Past Two Elections In North Texas

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Early voting got off to a strong start in Dallas and Tarrant Counties.

Election officials from both counties report a significant increase comparing the first day of early voting in the presidential election to the first day in 2012 and 2008.

According to Steven Vickers with Tarrant County Elections, some 43,149 people cast early votes Monday.

In 2012, 30,130 people voted in Tarrant County on the first day of early voting and in 2008, the number was 28,758.

Toni Pippins-Poole with Dallas County Elections said 58,329 people cast ballots on the first day of early voting, compared to 2012 presidential election when some 32,512 voted on the first day.  In 2008 the number was 34,415.
