Severe Thunderstorm Watch lifted for Metroplex; Southern and eastern counties remain
NORTH TEXAS – The First Alert Weather Team has declared Saturday a First Alert Weather Day due to expected rain and storms, some of which could be strong to severe.
While all Metroplex counties have been dropped from the Severe Thunderstorm Watch, far southern and eastern counties remain until noon.
Rain and storms will continue to end from west to east as into the early afternoon.
Storms are ongoing this morning and will increase in coverage by midday, with clearing expected this afternoon.
The primary threat in the Metroplex is hail, which could reach the size of quarters.
The damaging threat will increase as the storms move east of I-35, and a tornado cannot be ruled out.
Areas under a Level 4, Moderate Risk, face a significant threat of damaging winds and tornadoes this afternoon and evening, stretching through Louisiana into Mississippi.
Flash Flood Warnings are also in effect for Ellis and Navarro counties until 1 p.m.
A couple of inches of rain have already fallen in the area, and as a line of storms moves in, another 1 to 2 inches is possible.
Please remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.
Never attempt to drive through water-covered roads, as it is difficult to estimate the depth of the water and could potentially be life-threatening.
