First 2013 Fatality Crash For City Of Arlington

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - It's the first day of the year and the city of Arlington has already had the first fatality crash of 2013.

The single-vehicle accident happened around 3 a.m.

According to police the female driver was traveling at a high rate of speed going southbound on Park Springs Boulevard. As the driver neared an intersection she lost control of the car and crashed into the pole of a traffic signal.

Police said the woman, later identified as 21-year old Sara Habala, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no passengers in the vehicle.

Police are still investigating the crash but believe that in addition to speed, alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
