Firefighters Battle Fire At Historic Fort Worth Motel

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a long-abandoned historic motel early Tuesday.

The flames were first reproted around 3:15 a.m. in the vacant Victorian Inn at 1800 Hemphill Street.

When firefighters first arrived, heavy flames were shooting out of the back of the building.

A second alarm was quickly called.

Fire Department spokesman Tim Hardeman said because of structural concerns firefighters soon moved to fight the flames defensively.

It's not known if anyone was in the building at the time, but so far there are no reports of injuries.

According to Historic Fort Worth Inc. the Victorian Inn was one of the city's most endangered historic places fo 2011.
