Firefighters Back Home After Helping During South Texas Flood
A half dozen Fort Worth firefighters are back home after a dramatic rescue of a horse in south Texas flooding. The team was working flooding along the Rio Grande when they got the call that a couple horses had been stranded. Battalion Chief Richard Ward and his Texas Task Force One team led one horse to safety then rigged a couple boats with a cradle sling. He says once the exhausted horse was in the cradle she slumped down for the ride to shore. It took more than 4 hours to complete the rescue. Ward says he's never experienced such a rescue in his 33 years with the Fort Worth fire department.
