Fire Forces Evacuations At Arlington Hotel

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- Fifty people were evacuated from an Arlington hotel after an early morning fire went to three alarms on Friday.

Fire struck the Howard Johnson Express Inn on Copeland Road off I-30 near Six Flags Over Texas just before 7:00 a.m.

One person suffered from minor smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene.

According to officials, the fire was contained to two rooms on the fourth floor of the five-story hotel and was extinguished within an hour.

Firefighters helped evacuate more than 50 guests from nearby rooms.

"There was pretty much zero visibility, so they were having to feel their way to find the rooms and get people out," said Arlington Fire Chief Bill McQuarter.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
