FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - A school bus in Frisco was taking two students to their classes shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning when the driver noticed that something was wrong with the vehicle. Soon after, that bus was engulfed in flames.

The incident happened near the intersection of Eldorado Parkway and Coit Road.

According to Frisco spokesperson Dana Baird, the fire started out rather small and the driver was able to stop it with a fire extinguisher. At this point, the two students were taken off of the school bus and another vehicle was called to take them to campus.

"The driver noticed smoke coming from the bus radio," said Frisco Fire Battalion Chief Shannon Brinton.

But while the students were waiting outside, the fire started again. Emergency crews were called to the scene and were able to get the fire extinguished completely, although the bus suffered extensive damage.

A second adult was also on the bus at the time. There were no injuries reported. The fire appears to have started in the engine, but the exact cause is now under investigation.

The incident impacted traffic along Eldorado Parkway in Frisco.
