Fire At Arlington Building That Burned In 2012

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Emergency crews responded to a three-alarm fire early Monday morning at a building which had previously burned about 18 months ago. The incident started just after 3:00 a.m. near the intersection of Davis Drive and Randol Mill Road in Arlington.

The building belongs to Creative Arts Theatre & School, a children's theater program now celebrating 35 years in operation. However, this particular building has been vacant. The school relocated to another facility in downtown Arlington after a blaze at this location in July 2012.

The school had been negotiating the sale of this property, and the building was soon to be demolished. This fire may have interrupted that deal. "This is just another setback of things that we have to deal with as a nonprofit and, it seems like, the curse of this building," said school official Heather Simmons.

The damage inside of the building was extensive, fire officials said. But since the building was vacant, there were no injuries reported.

The flames were all extinguished and the cause of the fire is now under investigation. According to officials, the incident is suspicious because somebody, possibly a homeless person, was seen in the area just before firefighters arrived on the scene.
